9 days away!!!

My stress level is pretty high right now. So much on my mind and lots of lists and to-do's are being made. Karel is pretty laid back right now but he is doing great on listening to me and asking questions. I can't believe the wedding is just 9 days away. I am leaving on Wed to head to my parents and I just can't wait to be down there to see my family and my grandparents. The rest of the family will fly in on Fri. I am also really looking forward to seeing my brother. We get along so well and we are just the best of friends. Unfortunately, I don't get to see him very much because he lives in Pitt, PA and works at PPG (plate glass company) up there. I am also really excited to see all our Gearlink friends. I think half the wedding is family and the other half is cyclists. Well, if it wasn't for the Gearlinkers we would not have met on May 31, 2006. And lastly, Karel's mom, dad and brother will be arriving on Fri evening from Czech Republic. I asked Karel if he was...

Falling off your diet

Around this time of the year I get A LOT of emails from people asking me if I can help them with their diet. The subject usually reads "nutrition help" and the email usually starts off with something about not being able to stick to my diet plan . I love answering emails and I'm usually pretty prompt to get back to people. Luckily, I love what I do and I like address issues individually when people write to me. However, when the same topics come up over and over again, I find that it is more practical to write on my blog because my emailers are probably not the only ones experiencing nutrition problems. So, if you think this blog is in response to your email to me, please know that I am writing in response to the concerns of many athletes out there :) When I think about falling off of a diet I think one of two things. 1) There was a solid nutrition plan to begin with. 2) The nutrition plan was too restricted and difficult to maintain. First I'd like to address the 2nd...

Mountain bike race...CAMPY'S first trip!

We set out early on sun morning. Karel and I woke up at 5:30am and after having my morning cup of coffee, I prepared our cooler of fruit, yogurt, water bottles and PB&J sandwiches. However, before we set out for our 3 hour trip, I wanted to get in a quick 30 min run. I just love early morning running outdoors! After my run from 6:30-7 I packed up our stuff in my car and off we went. Karel, me and CAMPY! We met Karel's friend Alex at the Trek store and he was with his gf Lenore. It was nice to travel with some other people and instead of me just blabbering to Karel for the car ride to Tallahassee, I had two other people to talk to me. It seemed like a long car ride to the race venue but by 10:30 we were ready to get out of the car. Campy was so good in the car and he spent most of the time finding the best lap to sit on as he cuddled himself to sleep. He's such a good doggy! While Alex and Karel warmed up, Lenore and I walked Campy all around the race venue. The race was at ...

Congrats!!

Wow-what an exciting race. I was glued to my computer all day yesterday! Congrats to all the Ironman World Champ athletes. Getting there is the hardest part but finishing Kona is such an accomplishment. Looking forward to reading the race reports from my fellow bloggers who competed! I am so inspired by the hard work and dedication that people have to train for an IM. I even do the IM and I am always inspired to hear about and see people training for an upcoming Ironman. I just needed to see that race on the computer to understand WHY we do what we do. No matter the distance of the race, we push our bodies day after day and in return a race finish is just priceless!

Noodles has a name....

And an owner. First off, I want to tell everyone how great it felt to read so many nice replies about Noodles. Thank you for being so kind and warm about my little rescue dog. In a good but bad way I have some news to bring to your attention. After a full day of loving Noodles, I finally came to terms with this little doggy and I had to call him my own. I was worried about getting too attached to him and then having to give him to his real owner (if there was one) but with Karel just loving Noodles to death, it wasn't hard for me to fall in love with him as well. On tues morning, after calling everywhere possible to locate this dog's owner, I convinced myself that this dog was meant to be with me. After visiting Karel at work on Tuesday (with noodles) I went home and googled some animal clinic's in our area. It took me a good 15 min to find a clinic that would be perfect for noodles and I finally picked one. I called the clinic and told them I was the proud owner of a littl...

So much to blog about!

Since I have so much to blog about I thought I would give myself a day to sum up all the emotions that Karel and I have experienced over the past two days. All is good in our house now but I have so much to talk about. So, I thought I'd post some Kona pics from last year, seeing that Kona is this weekend. After finishing Kona (which was a dream come true for me) I am blessed to have experienced one of the most amazing triathlon experiences and I'm just so happy to be alive. It is amazing for us all to be able to do what we love to do....no matter the distance or the race. Also, we should never take for granted the experiences we encounter, the memories we create and the important people in our lives. Enjoy the pics and be sure to check out the blog tomorrow!
