Nutrition Video!!!

I am sure everyone could learn a bit more about racing nutrition.... http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=1587 Let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns :)

Noodles has a name....

And an owner. First off, I want to tell everyone how great it felt to read so many nice replies about Noodles. Thank you for being so kind and warm about my little rescue dog. In a good but bad way I have some news to bring to your attention. After a full day of loving Noodles, I finally came to terms with this little doggy and I had to call him my own. I was worried about getting too attached to him and then having to give him to his real owner (if there was one) but with Karel just loving Noodles to death, it wasn't hard for me to fall in love with him as well. On tues morning, after calling everywhere possible to locate this dog's owner, I convinced myself that this dog was meant to be with me. After visiting Karel at work on Tuesday (with noodles) I went home and googled some animal clinic's in our area. It took me a good 15 min to find a clinic that would be perfect for noodles and I finally picked one. I called the clinic and told them I was the proud owner of a littl...

So much to blog about!

Since I have so much to blog about I thought I would give myself a day to sum up all the emotions that Karel and I have experienced over the past two days. All is good in our house now but I have so much to talk about. So, I thought I'd post some Kona pics from last year, seeing that Kona is this weekend. After finishing Kona (which was a dream come true for me) I am blessed to have experienced one of the most amazing triathlon experiences and I'm just so happy to be alive. It is amazing for us all to be able to do what we love to do....no matter the distance or the race. Also, we should never take for granted the experiences we encounter, the memories we create and the important people in our lives. Enjoy the pics and be sure to check out the blog tomorrow!

Another Animal Saved

I believe that I was put on this earth for a reason. Although it gets to me at times when I find myself crying after I see a grasshopper get hit by bike tires, I just can't help but think that I am suppose to save all animals, bugs, insects and any critter that moves. Karel is use to it by now so when I cry over some 4-legged "friend" he knows to just give me a hug and try to comfort me the best he can. I guess I am a bit sensitive in that area but I can't change the way that I feel. I think we all have our breaking points and well, animals are mine. I must say that I do not force people to be a vegetarian and I do not insist that people give up meat. This is just how I live my life and as long as people respect animals when they are around me then I can associate with anyone....if anything, my favorite restaurant is Outback and I would never turn down a sweet potato and bread just because they serve meat. On sunday morning after my 60 mile solo bike ride (which was ...

I can't believe it worked......barely

Karel headed to New Port Richey (north of Clearwater) on Thurs for an appt. in Tampa. He then spent thurs afternoon and friday afternoon riding his mountain bike for most of the afternoon. What a life! And for the recovery meals, Karel enjoyed some meat-friendly dinners with my parents. Instead of going with Karel, I decided to stay here in Jacksonville. Because Karel was staying with my parents at their house for 2 nights, I thought I would give Karel a bit of a vaca and let him enjoy a few days without a schedule. I'm getting better with my ways but as opposed to Mr. free-bird, I live my life to a schedule and I am all about time management (at least I get things done and turn bills/work/assignments in on time!). And tonight, Karel is enjoying our wedding with his guys...Bachelor Party at the Hard Rock in Tampa! I wonder if I will get a report from Karel tomorrow morning? :) In order to kill some time this weekend, I decided late on Thurs night that I would do the Jacksonville Ma...

It's NOT easy

For anyone who has tried losing weight, you know it isn't easy. Regardless if you were successful in losing 60 lbs or if you are annoyed with those stubborn 5 extra lbs... losing weight is tough! Over the past year I have put on weight because of my injury. With 4 months of hardly any walking (last nov-feb) I had a hard time keeping my muscle mass. While my heart was staying strong through aerobic exercise, my fat cells enlarged (fat cells don't go away when you lose weight, they shrink) and I put on extra lbs. Over the summer, I took time to evaluate my healthy diet and what I need to do to increase my lean muscle mass. I took action and I have been steadily decreasing my fat mass and increasing my lean muscle mass. And, at the end of every day, I am not going to sit at home and complain to Karel that I need to lose weight. It is my responsiblity to evaluate my own diet as many others should do if they continue to struggle with extra lbs. So, after communicating to Karel about...
